Congratulations to Baylie Simon, Avery Chang, Sydney Fuller and Ella Bushko for being selected to the ID2 National Training Camp in Austin, TX this weekend! These players are products of the Fever United ‘05 Girls National Team and a great representation of the culture we have within our club.

The final id2 Training Camps of the year, targeting top 2005 girls and 2006 boys, will be held in Austin, Texas and Chula Vista, California. Those camps are Sept. 26-29 and Dec. 5-8, respectively.

Sept. 26-29 at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Austin, TX

Dec. 5-8 at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, CA

These four-day, invitation-only camps are renowned for their elite player development and identification tactics, as well as exposure to top coaches and scouts. Participants are challenged through a combination of field training and classroom sessions.

This is the first time the id2 Program has made a stop in Austin, Texas, as id2 directors Gerry McKeown (boys) and Tricia Taliaferro (girls) aim to find talent in that region of the country. The greater San Diego area has hosted id2 Training Camps in the past.

Any club’s Director of Coaching is encouraged to submit recommendations of players with youth national team potential. This supplements US Club Soccer’s objective scouting process that uses a network of scouts at games, tournaments and other high-level events across the country.

Targeted birth years are established every year in consultation with U.S. Soccer in order to align with the scouting priorities for the first youth national teams. In accordance with those scouting priorities, both of these camps will also extend to 2006 girls, in addition to the 2005 birth year.

Established in 2004, US Club Soccer’s id2 Program provides an opportunity for the country’s elite youth soccer players to be identified and developed, and scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. The id2 Program is an Olympic Development Program (ODP) approved by the United States Olympic Committee and the U.S. Soccer Federation. There is no cost for players to participate or be scouted, and all meals, lodging and gear are provided by US Club Soccer and Nike.
